Egyptian Pyramid Story - Radeyah

It was early morning and the sizzling ball of fire was slowly emerging behind the towering pyramids. I observed and stared at the astonishing view, all I could spot was miles of sand and  ancient pyramids and tombs. I stared at the crumbly papyrus that Great Auntie Lucy has handed me.
“This is the location of the temple,” I exclaimed pointing my thin finger on a helpful map.
“I’ll be able to display Cleopatra’s crown in a famous museum and be rich!” However, I have been searching for a whole week now in total with my friends and yet we have not noticed anything at all! Supplies were running short, my team were whispering and I was aware of it… The driver ground to a halt and faced me.
“Miss, we’ll have to call it a day or walk by foot since oil is running short.” I agreed sensibly and the driver signaled the others to set up camp.

Surrounding our muggy, minute campsite, the Sahara Desert was being trampled on frequently;  the driver was right, the needed oil had nearly run out. Like a tap, the oil leaked from the truck; there was a knot tied inside me. Rapidly, the oil attacked the sand, my fear had finally taken hostage of me! Covering my eyes in disappointment, my heart beat like a drum… I wriggled down in my sleeping bag, which was in my tent in the centre of the sizzling Sahara Desert, after a humid morning under the boiling sun. Hair rose on my back as I listened to mysterious noises coming from the horizon.

As the sun was beginning to sink into the land, I raised my binoculars and scanned the sunset just before my radio crackled with noise! I froze.
“What!” I yelled furiously.
“Sorry Miss, they've been spotted near the ancient tomb,” he replied.
“The have black jackets, grey beards and a bag full of guns and weapons!” I couldn't believe it at all! My goal would never be achieved!
“Do not, under any circumstances, let them get out of your sight!” I answered with a lump in my throat. My cheeks were erupting like an out of control volcano. In a flash, my team were swiftly chasing after them like a predator hoping they wouldn't detect us.

Gasping for air, our face transformed into a red tomato,  our hearts were thudding and we were panting for air. I could feel myself exploding with fury! Would we ever get the valuable crown? Smirking, the gang of thieves stepped on an odd looking brick…
“Aaghh!” screamed the thieves with agony. The thieves had actually helped us: they had guided us straight to Cleopatra’s crown! Blood was gruesomely oozing out of their souls as they frequently got shot with razor sharp arrows rapidly.
“ Please help!” they cried helplessly as death took away their last breath. I darted continuously towards the dead bodies and collected the valuable artifact. (Cleopatra’s crown)

“Thank you for helping!” I exclaimed.

Egyptian Pyramid Story - Bobby

It was midnight and the moon was sat in the gloomy sky. Silence consumed our tent as we slept soundlessly. Suddenly, we heard a moving truck not far from us. Immediately, I got out of the tent, looked around and found them. “Who was that” inquired my colleague.
“I don’t know” I replied confused. Strangely, the truck stopped. I climbed into the tent and drifted off to sleep.

A few hours later, the annoying sun shone through the tent and woke me up. I couldn’t get back to sleep, which was annoying as i needed the energy. Eventually, my colleague woke up. Peeping through the door, I noticed the door cautiously open. A man dressed in black climbed out with binoculars in his hands observing our direction. Immediately, I launched myself back into the tent hoping they didn’t see me. I was petrified. Knowing someone was looking for you frightened me.

All of a sudden, my radio crackled. “There are local thieves travelling in a truck with a skull and crossbones attached to it!” our boss informed us.
“They’re here,” I replied nervously.
“No way!” he replied astonished. Suddenly, they dived out of their truck, slammed the doors and sprinted towards the temple. Immediately, I grabbed my colleague and chased them. The temple, which was eerie, contained thieves and my colleague and I.

Inside the pyramid, my colleague and I cautiously crept wherever I went. They looked behind. I dived round the corner. My heart was pounding, it felt as if someone was punching me. Gingerly, we got up. All of a sudden, an idea hit me.”We’ll follow them to the booby trap. They will set it off. Then we will sneak through,” I whispered. Finally, a door appeared and the thieves entered. They fell to the ground, which was peculiar. Cautiously, we entered and spotted thieves on the floor, arrows all over them and blood oozing out of them.”Help me!” wailed a deep voice from the floor as their lives were took hostage. Silently, my colleague and I snatched the the precious artefact, dashed out of the temple and climbed into our scorching hot truck and drove away.

Hast - non-chronological report

Desert Eagles
Desert eagles weren’t discovered until the late nineteenth century. Approximately 120 years ago, people first started to track snakes in the desert and knew there was an unknown creature out there.Yet, not much information was known about these human friendly creatures and the only trustworthy information that was known, by William Shelling the hunter who found this remarkable creature, was that if desert hunter sprayed orange juice on them this would attract them and consequently become friends! As years have past by, well-educated scientists have made many more improvements to help us have more knowledge about these outstanding creatures and now can explain basic area’s of their lifecycle including their: appearance, habitat and diet. However there is something extremely clear, after reading this text, you will have a different feeling about them and would really want one as a friend…

Appearance
As their body camouflages in the sand, these remarkable creatures do not have many distinctive pattern. They have roughly 8 green pentagonal shaped lines on their turtle-like bodies, which could be extremely hard to see because of their camouflaged bodies. Furthermore, they share many other animal features, such as: flamingo legs, owl faces, turtle shells and bat wings. Inside their rather sharp beaks, which they could use to drink cactus juice with, they have no teeth and their tongues are peach orange. They often can change their eye colours, bloody red to scare away predators, baby blue to show they are friendly, bright yellow eye to camouflage in the sand and lime green eye to show they can see day and night. As they evolve into adults, they weigh 70-80 Kg (the weight of an average adult) and measure between 60-70 Kg ( the size of an average toddler). However, you won’t spot these creatures often due to the colour of their skin.

Habitat
Desert eagles are commonly found in holes about 1 metre high and 2 metres wide (in any desert environment). In addition to this, these remarkable creature are also known as microhabitat specialists because they only remain in or close to the same spot throughout their lives. Their sharp claws help them dig holes as fast as a car can drive, consequently, in most cases these creatures are found in holes, which provides the safety. Yet some of these creatures can be found living in a cactus; this is good for them because the cactus water helps them survive.Experts in the desert, believe these creatures are just like us humans with a brain full of ideas, which helps them survive in the dry desert. This means hunters, should not only look in holes, but also cacti.

Diet
Have you ever wondered what these outstanding creatures eat? It may be shocking because, even though they are large creatures, they have a extremely small amount of food. Scientists say they have a very different movement when they attack, take home and eat their prey. Due to the place they live desert eagles have a extremely restricted diet. In fact, the only things they digest are: snakes, lizards and scorpions. Yet their most flavoured drink is cactuses juice, and luckily for them there are many cactus in the desert to help them survive from thirst. As a result of their limited diet, desert eagles do not even have to hunt for their prey and they only emerge if necessary. Experts have recently revealed that they can live without water for 4 weeks and without food for 8 weeks; this is good for them if there is nothing to eat because they can survive longer

In conclusion, desert eagles have no harm to humans and actually want to be friends with us. However, they can be fierce if something or someone attacks them. Some people say they are horrid for attacking people, yet it may be that the humans are guilty for annoying them in the beginning. In addition experts (scientists) have also found out that these remarkable creatures can live up to 50 years. Due to their outstanding survival skills, these creatures could also live between a month to two when a part of their body ( heads, feet, hands and turtle shells) falls of; it is a better chance for having a longer life. Is this enough to show you how outstanding these creatures are and how nice it is to have  on as a friend.

Suspense Story - Jack

My friend Aiden and I were walking through the umber-brown forest: it reeked with age. Its woody stench filled the air causing me to shiver. The forest beckoned me into its pulsing heart, “Why did we come here?” I mumbled, as I tried to stand as still as a statue. We continued to amble through the towering forest; every sprawling tree we passed by reminded me of my watchful parents.

All of a sudden, a shadow appeared. This wasn't any usual shadow this shadow was big and pacey! What could it be? I shuddered. Aiden and I, had no choice. We had to explore…

Time passed by, I had to reveal this shadow, “Come out! Come out!” I mumbled mutely. My soul fell asleep; my heart was punching; and my brain was scrambled - All it was, was a cat!

Romeo Monolgue by Faith

There she leans on her balcony, like a fallen angel. She leaves me speechless! Like two gleaming stars in the velvety, black sky, her eyes sharply glisten, making me feel even more in love with her.

Hopefully, one day we can marry. Standing here looking up at her, I see her wonderful hair, golden like a jewelled crown upon her head. She’s the sun, the yonder sun guiding me to her from miles away. With her love, her ruby-red lips urge me to kiss her gently. Her rosebud lips gaze at me exclaiming: ‘’Come to me, come to me! You're the one!’’

Meeting her every night, staring into her azure eyes that spark my heart, I fall onto the floor, making me sing my heart out! She’s passionate, she’s glamorous, she’s the one!

Our menacing families should not do this. We are meant to be together but there hatred souls keep us apart. Do you think my love for her will come true? As her rosy cheeks suck me into a black hole of love, her soft hair glides through the gusty wind and waves my love closer and closer to her. She is determined for my love: I just know she is.

Letter to the Highwayman by Khadiza

18.12.1513
Verona,Italy
11 Montague Palace
ITL05
Dear Highwayman,
I am Romeo Montague, or you may know me as the son of Lord and Lady Montague (of Verona). I understand that you are currently grieving over the loss of your love, Bess, and I understand the emotion of an arrow to the heart just for it to be ripped out. I am writing this letter to tell you I am sincerely sorry. I am writing this letter in the forest by my deceased lover’s house.

Again, I am still extremely sorry for your loss. Do you know how it feels to love someone for a little while just to be killed? Soon after meeting my love, I decided to ask for her hand in marriage therefore, when her stubborn cousin (Tybalt) challenged me to a duel, I declined, he kept pushing me until he forced my acquaintance on pain of death! Committing a heinous crime, I killed him. I am aware that this would hurt Juliet.

I have noticed an obvious thing that we have in common, both of our better halves aren’t permitted to be wedded with us! How could I not notice this before? I met Juliet at a sublime masquerade ball. My original intention was to go after another girl. The ball had chandeliers shooting rainbows, beautiful tables laden with food and silk tapestries hanging gracefully on the walls.

Another coincidental similarity is that we both met our loves discreetly. Twas imperative that we did that because as I said, we were forbidden to greet them. I believe that you used to meet her at her inn casement window. However, I used to meet her at her balcony.

I hope that you find someone to help you cure your inconsolable position.
As of now I bid you farewell.
Yours sincerely, Romeo Montague.

                                         William Shakespeare
                            by Jack

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford, England, on 23 April 1564. At school, he developed a talent for acting. He went to the local grammar school therefore he was very clever and amazing at acting. For many years, he nursed ambitions acting and practised a lot. Sadly, (for Shakespeare) his dad wanted him to follow his footsteps by becoming the mayor of Stratford.

An incredibly talented pupil, Shakespeare went to London after marrying Anne Hathaway. He also realised that acting wasn't really his thing and decided to become a playwright and a poet. After a lot of writing,
William had three children Sussana, Hamnet and Judieth (Judieth and Hamnet were twins). Relieved, Shakespeare, finally performed at the Globe (Henry V) . Unfortunately, a terrible plague struck London and sickness occurred. Also, the theatres were closed down preventing any plays to be performed.

In 1598, a new theatre was built (The Globe). People had to pay 1 shilling to get the same seats. These people were called 'Groundlings' because they stood up in the open space on the floor: they stank! Incredibly, many of his plays are still performed today. Sadly,The Globe roof (which was thatched) was burned down in
1613 during a performance of Henry V.

After all those years of playwriting, William Shakespeare came to an end. He died 23 April (his birthday) 1616 at the age of 52 (he died in a pub toilet) .People, believe he died of typhus.Throughout his life, he wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets.

Estelle - In the Trenches

Embarrassed by the weakness of my body, painfully, I perch on the side of the cardboard seat alongside my other fellow friends (squashed like a ton of sardines). Surrounded by the protective barbed wire, I hear deafening bombs in the nearby distance. Why am I here? Dreaming, up in the menacing night sky, flakes of pure white snow elegantly drifts through the suffocating black blanket. Situated by the bleeding bodies, screams of irritation creates echoes through the bleak trenches. Beneath the crumbly soil, my predators: the rats scurry beneath my feet, feeding on my thick blood. Alarmed about whether I would return home, I carefully think about my past friends who suddenly died in vain. Why didn't I? Why did they leave me behind? Thoughts of death fill my head, tears of fear run down my cheeks and my slender hands start to tremble. I suddenly notice the deep snow suffocating the fresh green grass.

Bravely, I apprehensively climb the never-ending trench ladder, briskly remembering that it is Christmas Day and no need to dispute. Gingerly, I raise my hands and gradually parade towards the enemies. Out of the blue, the gleaming sun beams through the thick clouds and the depressing clouds depart, showing the vast blue sky. I use my ripped football to play a game. Hope and love fill the atmosphere and hatred disappears into thin air. A wave of hours of playing and smiles until the cannon goes off and the worthless war begins again. BANG! BANG!
Nazifa - In the Trenches

Here I stand, all alone, just my loyal crew to keep me company. As I stand waiting for this madness to end, I feel the air getting thicker, the blizzard getting stronger whilst I think about my doting family. Why was I picked? Why is this happening to me? I take someone’s life away everyday in this war, yet I still don’t know why. These filthy, treacherous trenches are freezing like Antarctica; cramped and crowded like a tin of sardines and I can hear blood curdling screams in the near distance . Repulsive rats lurk in the shadows of the trenches feasting on dead bodies every night.

Suddenly, I start thinking enough is enough! Why can’t we be friends on Christmas? Christmas is all about being festive and jolly. Before it was a blanket of snow   harshly suffocating the ground, however, now it looks like a sprinkle of icing sugar hugging the top of a cake. Being free from the catastrophic clouds, the sun conquers it’s fear by coming out into the day. Everyone is lively and cheering as we play football using our coats as goals and our crew as the fans. A wave of hope washes over my body until the cannon goes off, starting worthless war once again. BANG! BANG!

Biography - William Shakespeare
by Osman

William Shakespeare was born on the 23rd April (St. George’s Day), in 1564 in Stratford. He attended school at Stratford grammar and his father, John Shakespeare, who was the mayor of Stratford, believed that is was important to have an education. Shakespeare, who was inspired to become an actor at the age of 5, became an actor.

William Shakespeare, an amazing actor, got married at the age of 18 to a lady called Anne Hathaway in 1582. They had three children. Susanna was born in 1885 and the two other children, who were twins were called Hamnet and Judith. After the marriage, Shakespeare went to London with other actors. However, he realised that he was more talented at writing plays and sonnets than acting! When he started writing, he wrote a play called Henry V and that was the first ever play to be performed at The Globe Theater so many people went. In 1593, a terrible plague hit London and killed thousands of people. This tragically caused to shut all theaters down in London.

In London, the Globe Theater was introduced in 1598. To many people, it looked like a cross between a doughnut and a 50p! The Globe Theatre was different to our theaters. There were ‘groundlings’ and ‘sheltered tiers’. The sheltered tiers sat in seats with shelter and get pomanders to cover up the stinky smell. The plays that were played there were Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Henry V and many more. In 1613,the Globe Theater burnt down caused by an exploding cannon. Devastatingly, it burnt down the thatched roof.

Sadly, on the 23rd April 1616, his birthday, he died in a pub toilet. He was buried at a Holy Trinity Church. In his lifetime, he wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. He gave his property to his grandsons and rudely gave his wife the second best bed! . It is believed that if you remove his body he will put a curse on you! In 1997, a replica of the Globe Theater was built as a way to remember this incredible man.
